Qseven

Qseven modules from leading manufacturers congatec, TQ-System and  Arbor.

Qseven is a compact, low-power Computer-on-Module standard built around a credit-card-sized 70 × 70 mm form factor, designed specifically for fanless, battery-powered, and rugged embedded applications.

With both ARM and x86 processor options, a cost-efficient edge connector, and a proven track record across industrial and mobile applications, Qseven delivers reliable embedded computing where power and space budgets are tight.

Qseven Modules: Compact, Low-Power Computer-on-Modules for Rugged Embedded Design

Qseven is an open Computer-on-Module standard maintained by SGET (Standardization Group for Embedded Technologies). It integrates a processor, memory, and core I/O onto a compact module measuring just 70 × 70 mm, which connects to an application-specific carrier board through a cost-effective 230-pin MXM edge connector — the same robust connector type originally developed for notebook graphics cards.

The standard was designed from the ground up for low-power operation, with a maximum power envelope of around 12 W. This makes Qseven inherently suited to fanless, sealed, and battery-powered designs where active cooling isn’t possible. Qseven supports both ARM and x86 architectures on the same pin-out, giving designers the freedom to choose, or switch between, processor families without changing their carrier board.

Qseven Form Factors: Standard and µQseven Explained

Qseven is available in two module sizes that share the same 230-pin edge connector and pin-out. This means a single carrier board design can support both form factors letting you scale your product line between ultra-compact and full-featured variants without redesigning your hardware.

Standard Qseven — 70 × 70 mm
The standard Qseven form factor offers a balanced combination of compact size and embedded I/O. Available with ARM processors and low-power x86, all within a thermal envelope that supports fully passive cooling.

Standard Qseven is best suited for compact industrial and mobile designs that need a full embedded feature set in a small, fanless footprint.

µQseven (Micro Qseven) — 40 × 70 mm

µQseven shrinks the standard form factor down to just 40 × 70 mm while keeping the same connector and pin-out, making it one of the smallest connector-based Computer-on-Module formats available. Designed for ARM-based ultra-low-power processors, µQseven targets ultra-compact, battery-powered devices where even standard Qseven is too large. The same carrier design can later scale up to a full-size Qseven module if performance needs grow.
