Our production unit, located in Torsby, Sweden, works with custom assembly, PCB manufacturing, and cable production.
We’ve always been deeply committed to operations team working in Torsby, but we struggled to take our improvement initiatives to the next level. Produktionslyftet -program and our coach Glen Johansson gave us the tools to find a common thread in our improvement work and helped us define our shared “HOW.”
Smartare Produktionslyftet is a national program that supports Swedish manufacturing companies in developing their improvement work, increasing competitiveness, and strengthening employee engagement. Through coaching, structured processes, daily management, and visual follow-up, it creates a long-term foundation for a culture of improvement and sustainable production.
The focus is on taking small steps that lead to major impact by involving the entire organization. Produktionslyftet is run through a partnership coordinated by RISE. Other partners include several universities and various organizations and consultants across the country.
We started the project at the end of 2024. With our coach Glen Johansson by our side, we’ve established structures for continuous improvement, engaged the whole team in the change process, and implemented tangible improvements that are visible in our day-to-day operations.
One of our biggest achievements is the implementation of the 5S methodology, a systematic way to create order, organization, and increased productivity in the workplace. It’s not just about cleaning and tidying up but to create work spaces where it's easy to do things right, tools are easy to find, and small deviations don’t grow into big problems.
Although we had previously worked on improvements on our own, Produktionslyftet helped us gather momentum, prioritize effectively, and work toward common goals. We now have routines in place to manage deviations daily, a rotating leadership model during our visual board meetings, and updated instructions that are clear, visual, and easy to follow.
Over the past months, our staff has really grown into their roles. Many have taken on new responsibilities and feel confident making their own decisions. Our production team has taken ownership of the improvement work, from 5S implementation in the packing stations to developing deviation boards and work instructions. Creative solutions like a KANBAN system, color-coded charging stations, and visual toolboards have all contributed to greater structure and clarity in our daily work.
“There’s incredible power in people—if you give them the conditions to truly make an impact.”
Thomas Halstensson, Site Manager for EG Production Site
We’re incredibly proud of what we’ve achieved and deeply impressed by how the staff has embraced the project with true commitment and energy. Our journey of development is far from over, but we’ve found a method, a structure, and an engagement that give us the tools to continue growing together.
