Lightweight, 19-inch ruggedised aluminium rack for the in-transit protection of electronics and secure communications equipment.
ERack is a lightweight, 19-inch ruggedised aluminium rack for the in-transit protection of electronics and secure communications equipment. It is specifically designed for commercial and military applications when protection against physical, climatic and electromagnetic hazards are required, and where weight, strength and portability are critical issues.
The external monocoque container is manufactured from 1.5mm aluminium alloy providing resistance to corrosion, impact and deformation. Used extensively for aircraft parts, pressure vessels, marine structures and rugged transport containers, and retains exceptional strength after welding.
ERack is up to 30% lighter than other rack cases in its class. The unique suspended 19” chassis is constructed from RoHS compliant 1.5mm high-tensile aluminium alloy extrusions for superior levels of lightness and rigidity. The patented chassis design incorporates multiple triangular hollow extruded sections to achieve an extraordinarily high strength to weight ratio, and conforms to ISO/EU and DIN dimensional standards.
Payloads of up to 50kg can be accommodated by Erack in its standard configuration. However, we can also accommodate your heavier payloads, with double elastomeric anti-vibration mounts or stainless-steel wire rope mounts as appropriate for your individual application.
The 70mm deep front and rear lids are deep drawn from 1.5 aluminium – providing ergonomic rounded edges and corners, which act as very efficient crumple zones in severe drops – absorbing significant amounts of kinetic energy – so alleviating the full drop intensity from being transmitted directly to the elastomeric anti vibrations mounts, and working in tandem with the ERack suspension system to provide maximum protection against severe drop and impact.
The ERack’s suspended inner chassis is supported by a standard configuration of 8 or 16 elastomeric anti-vibration mounts (AVMs), fixed to the outer casing by robust anchor plates. The AVMs can be tuned to accommodate various payload weights and varying centre of gravity positions, ensuring the electronic equipment is protected from vibration and impact. The sway space allows the chassis to move up to 40mm independently of the outer container, and in any direction to absorb impact shock regardless of orientation.
Automatic Pressure Relief Valves (PRV) and IP breather valves, including membrane vents that allow air movement, can help you manage changes in air pressure while retaining the integrity of water and dust seals. In applications where EMI screening is required to manage the emission or intrusion of electromagnetic interference, we additionally employ Faraday Cage principles, using metallic mesh and / or EMI compliant perforated materials within the venting or pressure relief system. Humidity indicators and desiccant container systems are also available to help you control moisture content in transport and long-term storage situations.
