Detects electrolyte during early stages of thermal runaway and responsive to H2 and CO released during thermal runaway for early detection.
The Battery Safety Electrolyte Sensor (BES) is an automotive-grade sensor designed for early detection of venting and thermal runaway in battery systems.
Utilizing an advanced and patented rate of change algorithm, the BES detects battery electrolyte vapor commonly released during the initial venting phase called First Vent, as well as hydrogen and carbon monoxide gases released during a thermal runaway event.
This early detection capability of the sensor enables vehicles to meet international safety regulations such as UN GTR 20, China GB38031 & US NHTSA FMVSS 305A.
The Battery Safety Electrolyte Sensor (BES) should be seamlessly integrated into the battery pack and capable of communicating with the Battery Management System (BMS) to help ensure that every journey is supported by reliable technology.
